About Derby Academy

The Academy is an approved centre of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD). We offer a varied programme of dance and drama, with ballet forming the foundation of the Academy's work.

All our staff are fully qualified & CRB checked

We offer classes for adults and children of all ages and abilities starting as early as 3-4 years of age. Classes are taught in small, intensive groups from introductory levels through to professional and teaching qualifications.

Professional training is available for those wishing to work in the performing arts. Students seriously committed to a professional career may undertake our highly successful Performers Course.

The 'Green Room' – is a comfortable waiting area with a comprehensive library of dance-related books, magazines & videos.

Our facilities include:

* Two large light & airy studios equipped with ballet barres, specialist dance floors, mirrors and high ceilings.

* Male and female changing rooms with shower facilities.

* Audio and lighting facilities for studio performances accommodating audiences up to 100 seats.

* The 'Green Room' - a comfortable waiting area with a comprehensive library of dance-related books, magazines & videos.

History

Derby Academy was founded by its principal, Eve Leveaux, in 1978 to offer quality vocational training in dance, drama and related arts.
